Myanmar Diplomatic Academy

The Strategic Studies and Training Department (SSTD), operating under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, is instrumental in augmenting the professional capabilities and competencies of Myanmar’s foreign service personnel. Its mandate encompasses the systematic training of diplomats and staff, thereby bolstering their capacity for effective international engagement and the diligent safeguarding of Myanmar’s national interests.

The Myanmar Diplomatic Academy (MDA) functions under the SSTD’s purview. Structurally, the SSTD is comprehensively organized into six divisions:

(i) National Policy Studies Division,
(ii) Bilateral Studies Division,
(iii) Multilateral Studies Division,
(iv) Training Division,
(v) Research Division, and
(vi) Foreign Languages Division.
Preceding the establishment of the MDA, the SSTD assiduously conducted vital in-house and public training initiatives, which included advanced diplomatic courses, foreign service skills training, and public certificate courses providing essential proficiencies in negotiation, protocol, and international relations. Furthermore, it undertook extensive study visits to prominent diplomatic universities and training academies globally to integrate international best practices into its operational framework.
